Sierra Leone Foreign Minister slams Africa Security Council snub

Sierra Leone’s Foreign Affairs Minister Prof. David Francis has said it was time Africa got a seat on the UN Security Council. The minister who was in Turkey for the Antalya Diplomacy Forum was quoted by the Forum’s communications partner Anadolu Agency as saying regions of the world should support Africa in that direction.

The minister was making his stance known after attending the recording democracy panel discussion of the forum that was hosted by Turkish President Reccep Tayipp Erdogan in the resort city of Antalya.

British Council to shut down permanently in Sierra Leone

The British Council Office in Sierra Leone has in a notice stated it will be permanently closing down its ‘physical’ location in the country at 20A A.J Momoh Street, Tower Hill in Freetown from the 1st April 2022. The Council has been supporting Sierra Leoneans through connections from the United Kingdom (UK) and Sierra Leone in education and culture.

200 raffle winners of land to collect their prizes

The Ministry of Lands, Housing and Country Planning is set to distribute land the size two town lots each to 200 lucky Sierra Leoneans who in a raffle draw  conducted by the ministry last December won themselves the parcels of land. The allocation is to be done today Thursday 17th March, 2022.

Addressing colleague parliamentarians in the house the MP explained that it is important for the country to know about its citizens in the war torn country and whether measures have been but in place to have them brought back to Sierra Leone.

Suspended Auditor-General & Deputy set for hearing

A Special Tribunal which was set up to investigate the suspended Sierra Leone Auditor-General, Lara Taylor-Pearce and Deputy Auditor-General, Tamba Momoh is to commence hearing today at the main Law Courts in Freetown. The two senior members of staff were indefinitely suspended by President Julius Maada Bio in November 2021 for alleged misconduct by Audit Service Sierra Leone.
