Guma Valley repairs Mile 13 Dam Tunnel

As part of the Freetown Water Supply Rehabilitation Project funded by UKAid, the Guma Valley Water Company on Friday 27th May 2022 completed maintenance work and replacements of the leaking Scour and Gate Valves at the Guma Dam Tunnel at Mile 13.

The work according to a report by the company’s communication unit is expected to save about 6 million liters of water per day, “enough water to serve 50,000 people.”

The runaway leaders of the Sierra Leone Premier League were on Sunday crowned as the Champions of football in the country. 

Fresh from their 4-0 drubbing of Central Parade at the Bo mini-stadium, to go 16 points clear of their nearest rivals East End Lions, Bo Rangers were presented with the trophy at a colorful ceremony.

Ahead of the weekend match, the hosts were treated to a guard of honour by Central Parade FC.

Sierra Leone’s former president backs country’s UN Security Council bid

Sierra Leone’s former president, Ernest Bai Koroma has endorsed the country’s bid for a non-permanent seat at the United Nations’ Security Council.

In a statement issued by his media office, he said: "I will endorse anything Sierra Leone aspires for at the United Nations (UN), the African Union (AU), and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and will leverage international goodwill in pursuit of such an aspiration, as long as it brings pride and honour to our beloved nation, Sierra Leone".

Sierra Leone pledges $500,000 to AU to fight climate change

Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has pledged US$500,000 to the African Union Humanitarian Fundraising conference at the 16th Extraordinary Conference and Summit.

The pledge which was made on Friday 27 May 2022 in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea according to a report by the State House Communications Unit is a show of the country’s commitment to addressing Climate Change issues and other humanitarian challenges in Africa.

Council Chairman commends NGO-Council relations

The Port Loko District Council Chairman, Ibrahim Santigie Bangura has commended the relationship between the Non-Governmental Organisations working in the district and the Local Council, saying that the revitalisation of the District Development Coordination Committee meeting (DDCCs) is a significant structure that ensures better coordination among all the NGOs, Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as well as non-state actors for efficient and time-bound development in the district.

Opposition MP questions credibility of population census
