ACC Convicts former Anglican staff

Edward Mustapha Luseni a former worker of the Anglican Diocese in Bo who was standing trial on eight counts of misappropriation of donor funds has been convicted on six counts.  He has been ordered to pay thirty million Leones or serve three years imprisonment. Luseni was found guilty of tampering funds donated by Trinity Wall Street, USA to the Bo Anglican Diocese.

Woman throws Caustic Soda on husband’s face

One Amie Mustapha from Kpava village in the Nongowa chiefdom Kenema district has made her second appearance before Magistrate Garson Lamin McCarthy of the Magistrate court No.11 in Kenema charged for attacking her husband with caustic soda.

Woman in Police Net for Cruelty to Girl, 8

Police attached to the Family Support Unit in Kenema division are currently investigating a woman Baindu Kowa of the Loko town section in Kenema for beating up brutally an 8-year-old girl believed to be her niece.

According to reports, the suspect who is a petty trader on the 12th January 2022 gave items to the girl to sell. The girl after hawking returned home and as instructed by Kowa handed over the money to the suspect’s son named Ishmael for safe-keeping. 

Bollore supports East-end Police

A shipping company Bollore Sierra Leone, on the 14th January 2022 donated to the Freetown East-end Police division some consignment of building materials worth fifty-four million, two hundred and eight-nine thousand five hundred Leones (Le, 54,289,500). The presentation was made at the terminal down the port in Freetown and the materials were to serve as   contribution to the police’s construction of a Post.

Sierra Leone female politicians debate GEWE bill

At a well-coordinated event hosted by the National Political Debate Committee (NDPC), women from various political parties in Sierra Leone on Thursday 14th January 2022 debated issues in the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Bill that is currently awaiting parliamentary approval.

The bill among other things seeks to reserve 30% out of the parliamentary seats for women and in the cabinet. The bill also aims to improve women's access to finance, and to link government spending to improving gender equality.

Sierra Leone president nominated Champion of Blue Economy in Africa

Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has among other Africans been nominated champion of Blue Economy in Africa.  Raila Odinga, Rotimi Amaechi, and others were also nominated for different categories within the Blue Economy. All are set to be inaugurated on the 12th of March 2022 at a public event in Nairobi Kenya.

Commercial Motorbike Riders Union wants collective work with SLP

The Secretary-General of the Bike Riders Union, John Samuel Kailondo Banya has urged for better understanding with the Sierra Leone Police for the interest of both parties and the general populace.

Banya told Politico over the weekend that many people depend on commercial bikes to move around and as such bike riders are key to the development of the country. He said they have one million, two thousand, and fifty-six (1, 2056, 000) registered with them nationwide.
