FBC students express concern over hostels

Since the Hostels at Fourah Bay College have been made available to students, not many students have been able to occupy them. This according to some students that politico spoke to has to do with the conditions attached to applying for the hostels, the ‘high rates of hostels fee’, and the shortage of water.

Fire destroys Cow Yard Market

Properties worth hundreds of millions of Leones were last Saturday 15th January destroyed by a fire outbreak at a popular commercial area called Cow Yard in Yogomaia locality in the Sengbeh Chiefdom, Koinadugu District. The fire reportedly broke out between 9 and 10 am, but what caused it was yet to be confirmed.  Among the structures destroyed in the blaze were three main shops dealing in electronics and mobile phones.

Ambassador Thomas supports teachers

In an effort to support the Free Quality Education programme, Sierra Leone Ambassador to Kuwait, Haja Ishata Thomas on Monday 18th January 2022 donated 22 bags of rice (25kg) plus six million Leones to teachers of the Murray Town Army Primary and Secondary School.

$ 1 million support for Freetown Mayor’s Office

The Freetown Mayor’s Office has become one of the latest recipients of a grant of One Million Dollars by the Bloomberg Philanthropies after successfully fulfilling the criteria set out in the Mayors Challenge.  The Freetown Mayor’s office is among 15 cities that received the award on Tuesday 18th January 2022.  The award began some nine years ago to support and recognize city council leaders around the world with innovative ideas.

NDI to capacitate female politicians
