A shipping company Bollore Sierra Leone, on the 14th January 2022 donated to the Freetown East-end Police division some consignment of building materials worth fifty-four million, two hundred and eight-nine thousand five hundred Leones (Le, 54,289,500). The presentation was made at the terminal down the port in Freetown and the materials were to serve as contribution to the police’s construction of a Post.
While handing over the materials, the Head of Communications at Bollore Freetown Terminal, Gassimu Fofana said that it is clearly mandated in their corporate social responsibilities to support communities in dire- need of materials for the establishment of structures such as community centers and other resourceful establishments that would boost communities in their development strides.
Gassimu added that Bollore actually works with the Sierra Leone Police especially the eastern police division in ensuring the provision of the necessary security and policing. In addition, he said they are poised to give their fullest support to the division for the construction of police posts within their areas of control.
Receiving the building materials on behalf of the division’s local unit commander, Superintendent Thaimu Balie Sesay commended the company for the timely support that would expedite their construction project; noting that it is very difficult for some companies to go by their stated corporate social responsibilities to communities.
The Superintendent said Bollore had sent a strong signal to other companies to support communities as part of their cooperate social responsibilities that would help actualize development plans.
In his statement, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ansumana Conteh said that they are currently constructing a Police Post at Moa Wharf which is one of the Freetown coastal slum communities that is within the division’s operational areas. He said work at the site is at foundation level and that they are determined for construction to be completed in the shortest possible time. He noted that the crime rate in the division’s operational areas is on the increase, and thanked Bollore for the materials.
