Journalists equipped with efficient reporting skills

 As a way of improving effective reporting on development issues in Sierra Leone, Journalists across Sierra Leone have on 26th and 27th January 2022 received skills training to enhance their efficiency in reporting.

The two days training session was facilitated by Premier Media Group at SLAJ multi-purpose hall in Freetown with Support from the European Union (EU).

Saudi Arabia supports Sierra Leone's UN Security Council Bid

Sierra Leone's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has sought support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Sierra Leone's bid for a seat in the United Nations Security Council in the Non-Permanent category for 2024- 2025. According to a report by the Information Attaché at the Embassy Abubakarr Bah.  

€1 million Euros grant for Falaba District Council

 The Falaba District Council has received €1,050,000 approximately 13 billion Leone's grant from the European Union through the Government of Sierra Leone to support COVID-19 response, infrastructure, agriculture, and administration (tax and revenue) in Falaba District. 

The grant is part of the 11th European Development Fund program to empower District Councils and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to improve the environment for effective decentralization and local governance. 

AfDB funds Peace Bridge in Yenga

The Vice President of Sierra Leone has said in Conakry that the African Development Bank has provided funds for the construction of a Peace Bridge over the Makona River in the disputed border town Yenga in Eastern Sierra Leone. Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh who led a high level delegation to the Republic of Guinea last week to discuss security cooperation and regional integration said soon as the two countries sign the necessary paperwork, the project would begin.

New Regent Chief for Wandor chiefdom

A retired school principal, Ansumana Gbao has been inaugurated as Regent Chief for Wandor Chiefdom in the Kenema district. The ceremony took place at Fala, the chiefdom’s headquarter town.

The inauguration came following the death of Paramount Chief Henry Fangawa Jamukor 11 on the 16th of August 2021. The government through the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development ensured the holding of the event on the 23rd January 2022.

Makeshift School in need of better structure

School authorities at the Hope Primary School in the Kamanda Farm Community, at the back of Fourah Bay College, have on the 24th January 2022 pleaded for the construction of a new structure.

Speaking to Politico the Head Teacher for the school, John Shine Robert said the school has been in existence for over ten (10) years. He said a Christian mission had tried for the community to be given a new edifice as the present makeshift structure is not conducive for efficient and effective learning to take place.
