ACC, education stakeholders plan against exams malpractice

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), in collaboration with various stakeholders in the education sector, have called on supervisors and invigilators of public examinations in Sierra Leone to work towards ensuring that the ongoing public examinations are free of malpractices.

The institutions made this call at a meeting held in Koidu Town, eastern region of the country on Thursday 13th August. The meeting attracted teachers, principals and other players in the sector.

Sierra Leone's new Mines Minister meets civil society

The recently appointed Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources (MMMR), Musa Timothy Kabba, has assured Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) of his commitment to the effective management of the country's natural resources.

He made the assurance during an engagement with members of the Natural Resources Governance and Economic Justice Network (NaRGEJ), a coalition of CSOs working on the sector in Sierra Leone. 

Bo: Bailiff evicts tenants after court order

An industrious disable organization in Bo City is among several victims of a court order that led to the eviction of tenants of a building last week.

A bailiff on Thursday, August 13, executed the order, under the watch of armed police officers headed by James Musa, LUC Bo West, leaving many of the tenants in confusion.

Stats SL, FAO sign MoU for Household Food Security Assessment

The Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Statistics Sierra Leone for the conduct of a Household Food Security and Agricultural Livelihood Assessment in Sierra Leone.

The signing ceremony was hosted at the FAO Sierra Leone Country Office in Freetown on Tuesday, 11th August, in the presence of representatives from both organizations and the media.

Bo residents express concern over rise in road accidents

Some residents in Bo have expressed concern over recent increase in the spate of accidents in the township. They say accidents, which are mostly caused by motor bikes, have claimed the lives of many people.

Campaigners say in most cases, especially when they involved bikes, the riders run away, and the police have had problem trying to identify hit-and-run riders due to many factors that include failure of registration of bikes.

WFP provides logistics assistance to Sierra Leone public departments

Two government Ministries and a unit in the Office of the Vice President have become the latest recipients of vehicles and other items donated by the World Food Programme (WFP). 

Two vehicles, a DAF 1800 truck and a single cabin Toyota Land Cruiser, were donated to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The Ministry also received two 20ft sea-cargo containers, two combo aqua tanks and rolls of perimeter barbed wire.
