FJP development commences quality audit training

FJP Development and Management Consultants has embarked on a six-day webinar training for auditors, boards of directors and managements, with the goal of ensuring internal quality.

The training, the organizers say, is for participants to get prepared to mitigate the risks, leverage the opportunities, and stay ahead of the competition and for smart investment.

Sierra Leone economy gets low rating - Afrobarometer

A new Afrobaromter survey has shown a low approval rating for how the Sierra Leone government is handling the economy. The survey showed that only 19% of people believe that the government is doing well in handling the economy.

Rating about the country’s economic performance was low on almost every indicator in the report, which is part of a series of Afrobarometer surveys that have been done by the local think tank, Institute of Governance Reform.

Sierra Leone Police to review ranking structure

The Sierra Leone Police, under the leadership of Inspector General of Police, Ambrose Michael Sovula, is on the verge of restructuring the ranking structure in the force.

Sovula said he is restoring 10 ranks removed between 1999 and 2003, bringing the total to 19.

The police boss made the disclosure in an address to a group of officers from the Operations Support Division (OSD) at their headquarters in Freetown on Monday.

Judge alone to try Sierra Leonean opposition politician for alleged rape

Justice Samuel O.Taylor has reversed a decision he took on Tuesday to have the leader of National Democratic Alliance Party Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray and one Marion Harouni tried by a judge and jury at the sexual offences court in Freetown.

Speaking on Wednesday 19th August 2020 Justice Taylor said his earlier decision was inconsistent with the new law on sexual offenses and goes against the mandate of the new model court for sexual offenses. 

Hijabi pupil barred from taking exam in Sierra Leone

Driver jailed for 15 years for rape of a minor

Justice Momoh Jah Stevens of the sexual offenses division of the High Court in Freetown has sentenced a 36 year-old driver, Manso Kamara to 15 years in jail after he was found guilty of sexually penetrating a child under the age of 18.

23-year-old Sierra Leonean gets 12 years for raping a child

Justice Ansumana Ivan Sesay of the High court in Freetown has sentenced 23 year-old Mohamed Deen to 12 years imprisonment after he was found guilty of sexually penetrating a girl child under the age of 18. 

Delivering his judgement on Wednesday 19th August 2020, Justice Sesay said that he had found the accused guilty as charged because of corroboration in the testimony of the victim with that of the 1st prosecution witness Dr. Olabisi Claudius Cole, head of the Rainbo Center.
