APC Minister Guilty of Corruption

Kadija Olamatu Seisay, former Deputy Minister of Works, Housing and Infrastructure (MWHI) under the All People’s Congress (APC)-led administration of Ernest Bai Koroma, has been found guilty of one-count of misappropriation of public property in a case brought against her by the Anti-Corruption Commission.

UN Resident Coordinator in Sierra Leone bids farewell

The United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sierra Leone, Dr Sunil Saigal, is set to leave Sierra Leone after spending four and half years in the country. 

Dr Saigal, who would also be proceeding on retirement after 35 years of service with the United Nations (UN), met with President Julius Maada Bio on Wednesday to bid farewell.

Sierra Leone starts review of National Youth Policy

As Sierra Leone joins other countries to commemorate the International Youth Day, the Ministry of Youth Affairs has begun the review process of the National Youth Policy.

The review process started on Wednesday, August 12 in Bo with a discussion which brought together youth representatives from the four districts in the southern region: Bo, Moyamba, Pujehun and Bonthe.

Officials say similar sessions on the draft youth Policy 2020

will be held in other regions of the country.

Following ACC report, Sierra Leone's Limkokwing students optimistic

The recommendations emanating from the recent report by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on the status of the Malaysian owned private university – Limkokwing – has left its students optimistic about their future.

Over 1000 students have been stuck at home for months after the school was effectively shut down following disagreement between the management and the government over payment.

Sierra Leone to revamp domestic air transport

The Sierra Leone government is working on revamping domestic air transport as part of its effort to improve on the larger air transportation system in the country.

Officials say the move is also aimed at easing transportation and boosting trade both locally and within the sub region.

Last week a team from the aviation sector, headed by officials from the Ministry of Transport and Aviation, conducted a joint monitoring visit to defunct air fields in Kenema and Bo districts.

Bo: New Site community gets electricity transformer

The Minister of Energy, Alhaji Kanja Sesay, has commissioned a new 315 KVA power transformer at New Site Community in Bo. 

The community, which according to residents went for over 15 years without electricity, was lit up on Saturday, 8th August, at a special ceremony at the Toyota Garage, in the presence of hundreds of community members.

"Light don cam, light don cam. tenki Alhaji Kanja," the happy residents shouted as the Minister switched on the power.
