The Ebola vaccine is safe –health officials

Officials of the Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Health and Sanitation and the World Health Organization (WHO) have assured of the efficacy and safety of the recently received Ebola Virus Disease vaccine.

The vaccine received by health officials last weekend at the Freetown International Airport from the Johnson and Johnson pharmaceutical is said to prevent EVD infections among people.

Fire prevention volunteers trained in Kenema and Kailahun

The National Fire Force has trained over one hundred fire prevention volunteers from over forty communities in two districts in the eastern region.

The regional commander east National Fire Force Sheku Baba Sesay disclosed that the initiative of training fire prevention volunteers came out of an idea of the rapid result approach system since fire force personnel are not available  in the many communities where fire disasters do occur.

Light of Kasseh elects maiden national executive

The Light of Kasseh elected its maiden national executive to run the affairs of the fledgling organization for the next two years at a special general meeting held at Kissy Dockyard in Freetown on Sunday 11th April 2021.

A Freetown-based businessman, Mr Ibrahim Sorie Sesay who has several years’ experience in forming and managing grassroots interest groups, as well as in mobilizing people for public interest actions, was elected chairman.

Office for Tenants and Landlords Commissioned

The Tenants and Landlords Welfare organization in collaboration with the Ministry of Lands, Housing and the Environment has on 9th April 2021 officially commissioned the organization’s office  in Kenema eastern Sierra Leone.

Speaking at the ceremony, the board chairman of the organization, Augustine Allieu Sannoh said the organization was in everyone’s interest as everybody can be a tenant or landlord.

Ebola vaccine arrives in Sierra Leone

Officials of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation and the World Health Organization have on Saturday 10th April 2021 received the first consignment of the Johnson and Johnson Ebola vaccine at the Freetown international airport.

The vaccine according to officials is to help prevent a recurrence of the devastating Ebola epidemic which claimed thousands of lives across the country. 

Gbangbeima Trade Fair returns after over 30 years

The indigenes of Kpaka Chiefdom in Pujehun district have organised the first Trade Fair in nearly thirty years. The event held at Kpangbema village drew hundreds of people from within Sierra Leone and neighbouring Liberia. The fair which revived memories of its once famous past, saw the display of various goods ranging from agricultural produce to locally knitted clothes and general merchandise.
