New recruitment policy for the Sierra Leone Correctional Services

The Technical Support Team Lead, Sierra Leone Correctional Service Colonel David Ngaujah has on Monday 19th April 2021 presented new policies on recruitment, promotion, ranking structure, among others to the decision making body of the Sierra Leone Correctional Service.

During the presentation of the policy at his New England Ville Office in Freetown, he said recruitment should be handled such that every kind of personnel needed is given the job.

The Internal Affairs Minister David Panda Noah and senior Military and Police officers have visited the Hastings home of Alpha Kargbo alias Wadada who was fatally shot by an armed Police officer last Thursday 15 April 2021. The delegation which also included the Military Chief of Defence Staff General Sullay Sesay, Inspector General of Police Ambrose Michael Sovula, Abdulai Caulker from the Office of National Security (ONS) and other senior Police officers all expressed their condolences to the grieving family of Kargbo.

The Supreme Court of Sierra Leone presided over by the  Chief Justice Desmond Babatunde Edwards has dismissed the 2018 Presidential elections petition case brought before the court by the leadership of the main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) Party.

The empanelled Justices comprised  Nicholas Brown Marke (JSC), Eku Roberts (JSC), Alusine Sesay (JSC) and Court of Appeal judge Ansumana Ivan Sesay.

Eight years no convocation to polytech-students complain

Students that have completed courses in different fields at the Eastern Polytechnic since 2014 have expressed disappointment over the administration of the college for not performing one of the mandatory functions of a tertiary institution.

According to some of the aggrieved students that have pursued courses ranging from Teacher’s Certificates, diplomas, higher national diplomas to degree programmes, the college has not held any graduation ceremony since 2014.
