Zoodlabs to improve connectivity in Sierra Leone

The technology company Zoodlabs  has committed to improve internet connectivity in Sierra Leone. This was contained in a presentation by the company’s Chief Operating Officer David Kpakima to the Parliamentary ICT Committee, an event that took place at Radisson Blu hotel , Aberdeen in Freetown, on Wednesday 31 March 2021.

U S partially eases Visa sanctions on Sierra Leone

The United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has ordered the reduction of visa sanctions on Sierra Leone in recognition of the government’s augmented assistance in facilitating the timely return of its nationals who are subject to final orders of removal from the country.

Less than 40% of media houses are NASSIT subscribers - NASSIT MD

The Director General of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) Mohamed Fuaad Daboh has said that less than 40% of media houses are compliant to the payment of social security contributions for their employees.

He made this statement on Tuesday 30th March 2021 during the official launch of a nationwide workshop for media houses and their owners organized in partnership with the Independent Media Commission (IMC) aimed at fostering the welfare of media practitioners in the area of social protection.

Kenema farmers to start using agricultural machinery

The district director of Agriculture Kenema Philip Gannah Conteh has on 29th March 2021 officially presented 7 tractors and 25 tillers to Bondibu Agricultural Engineering  company that won the contract for management of the farm equipment from government.

Addressing farmers, Conteh spoke about the new direction government’s policy shift which brought on board Public Private Partnership into the agricultural sector.

Farmer sentenced to death for killing infant

The Resident High Court Judge presiding over Port Loko District and covering the towns of Kambia, Lungi, Lunsar, Masiaka and Port Loko city, Justice Abdul Sheriff has sentenced Abdulai Salieu Kamara popularly known as “Loketo” to death by hanging following his conviction of the offence of murder.

A jury unanimously returned a guilty verdict against the 29-year old in respect of the offence charged.

New study shows high vaccine acceptance among Sierra Leoneans

 Majority of Sierra Leoneans will take a Covid-19 vaccination when it is available, a new report has revealed.

The latest edition of the Knowledge, Attitude and Practices (KAP) study by the NGO FOCUS 1000 was unveiled last week, Thursday March 25. It’s the third version of the KAP study by the NGO since the pandemic began in Sierra Leone in March 2020.
