Police undergo trainers’ course

As a way to revamp the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), the establishment’s Peace Keeping and Law Enforcement Academy has conducted a three-day training of trainers’ course.

The training was designed, tailored and customized to match with the SLP’s needs and international expectations. The training dealt with relevant sectors such as service delivery, ethics, corruption, and discipline and hostility reduction.

SIerra Leone to commission 25,000 new houses at affordable cost

The United Nations through their Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial, Summary or Arbitrary Executions, Morris Tidball-Binz has applauded the Government of Sierra Leone for the repeal of the death penalty through a letter addressed Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Switzerland, Dr. Lansana Gberie.

Bo DiCOVERC wants more vaccine

The Bo district Coronavirus Response Centre Coordinator has in an engagement with the national response body, NaCOVERC said they have been robustly meeting residents across the district on the new COVID -19 preventive measures announced by President Julius Maada Bio and the need for the people to be vaccinated but that insufficient vaccines is a challenge. 

David Fortune called on the national COVID -19 response body to ensure that vaccines were available for the population to access.

Two vaccine ‘fraudsters’ remanded in Sierra Leone

Justice Cosmotina Jarrett has on the 29th July 2021 at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Court in Freetown sent one Gibrilla Kamara and Michael Abdulai on remand for selling fake Covid-19 vaccine certificates.

Both Kamara and Abdulai were staff of the Western Area Urban District Coronavirus Response Centre (DICOVERC). According to the ACC, both accused were serving as Mobilisation Officers.

Fate of Sierra Leone's death row inmates unknown

The Consultant at the Attorney General’s Office, Lahai Momoh Farma has admitted that no specific decision has been made regarding those inmates who remained on death row before the bill abolishing the death penalty was passed by the Sierra Leone Parliament on 23 July 2021.
