Sierra Leone opposition parties walk out of Parliament as NEC commissioner is approved

The Parliament of Sierra Leone has approved the Presidential nominee  for the position of  National Electoral Commissioner for Western Region, Zainab Umu Moseray, despite objections by opposition party members.  All People’s Congress (APC), National Grand Coalition (NGC) and some figures representing Coalition for Change (C4C), walked out of the House in protest. They complained of not being consulted over the woman’s nomination for the job.

School boy charged for penetrating school mate

A  Freetown secondary school pupil has been arraigned in court on allegations of penetrating his 12-year-old girl- school mate.

The boy appeared before Justice Mohamed Bawoh at the Sexual Offences Model Court in Freetown on a count charge.

According to the particulars of offence, he was said to have sexually penetrated the alleged victim between 1st March and 31st March this year in Freetown.

Father impregnates daughter in Pujehun

A 47-year-old Father in Pujehun district has allegedly impregnated his 14-year-old daughter. The full identity of the suspect is yet to be released.

The matter was reported to the Line Manager at the Family Support Unit (FSU) Pujehun Police Division, Detective Police Inspector Ibrahim Samura by a sister of the suspect. Inspector Samura said the incest matter was reported to them sometime in September.

Kpetema / Mattru road starts January 2022

 The physical implementation of the Kpetema to Mattru Jong road project will start in January 2022. This was disclosed by the Communications Specialist of the Sierra Leone Roads Authority Keifa Mohamed Jaward.   

 “The next stage of the project cycle will be the recruitment of contractors in readiness for the commencement of the physical implementation of the project in January 2022”, he stated.
