Sierra Leone teachers concerned over proposed online recruitment

Sierra Leone Teachers Union’s (SLTU) Deputy Secretary General Alieu Deen Conteh has raised concern over the proposed online recruitment of teachers by the Teaching Service Commission (TSC), saying it would affect applicants. Speaking to Politico on Monday 22nd November 2021, Conteh said those in remote areas will have a hard time accessing internet cafes  and might end up spending equivalent a month’s salary just to get the process done.

UNICEF celebrates 75th Anniversary

NPPA Boss ends quiz competition in Bo

In an effort to improve on their public speaking skills, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Public Procurement Authority (NPPA) has organised a day’s debate and quiz competition for secondary school pupils in Bo, Southern Sierra Leone.   The competition attracted twenty five (25) pupils in Bo and its environs.

Sierra Leone to upgrade tourism sites

In an effort to boost tourism and attract private investment, the government of Sierra Leone is set to upgrade touristic sites across the country in 2022. The move to upgrade sites such as Leicester Peak, Banana Island, Tacugama Sanctuary and Bureh Beach, according to the Minister of Finance, Dr. Dennis K. Vandi, is supported by the World Bank through the Sierra Leone Economic Diversification Project.

The Minister said this while presenting the 2022 government budget in Parliament, on Friday 19th November, 2021.

NaCSA hands over projects to communities

The National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) under the Community Driven Development Project on the 20th November, 2021 handed over completed infrastructures to communities in Kenema district.

The facilities were a Recreational Centre at Bandama in Small Bo chiefdom, a Secondary School at Burma Section and a market structure at Lagor, Nongowa Chiefdom in Kenema district.

Retirement and Recruitment of teachers in Sierra Leone will be done once a year, according to the Public Relations Officer at the Teaching Service Commission Jammie Victory Sankoh. She told Politico the initiative which is to be effected at the end of every academic year, will enhance a smooth flow in the educational calendar.
