Diet contributes to cancer- Dr. Kapuwa

The Medical Superintendent of the Kenema Government Hospital, Dr. Ibrahim Kapuwa has urged people to monitor and watch their diets, saying that studies have shown that most diets are contributing factors to cancer, especially excessive eating of red meat. “When cancer reaches the worst stage, it can’t be cured at all,’’ he said.

The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) has on the 1st February 2022 introduced Sierra Leone Learning Passport at the ministry’s conference hall New England Ville in Freetown, a platform that allows pupils of the three external examinations to access past questions for review and help them understand the nature of questions posed in those examinations.

The conference according to the organizers was to foster partnership and collaboration with other institutions to develop a robust education campaign and awareness on civic matters in the country.

3 inter-district robbers arrested in Kono

Police in Kono, eastern Sierra Leone, have arrested three men believed to be armed robbers. During a briefing at Police Headquarters in Freetown on the 3rd February this year, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Amadu Mannah said the men were also believed to have been responsible for robberies in Kissy, Freetown, and Bo, Southern Sierra Leone.

The Deputy Regional Commander Southern Region, Commissioner Hillary Sao, confirmed that the three men were also responsible for a murder and robbery in Bo City.

Man arrested with 26 bags of electricity materials in Bo

Police in the Bo East division are investigating a businessman Sheku Bah for “illegal” possession of electricity cables.

During questioning at the Police station, Bah said that he bought the wires at 40,000.00 per kilo from vendors who met him at his workplace.

He could not say where he was taking the 26 bags of electricity materials loaded in a truck, before his arrest. According to reports, Bah was taking the materials to neighbouring Guinea.

Lunsar to host African cyclists

The Lunsar Cycling Team has in a release confirmed that the Science in Sports Tour De Lunsar hosted in Sierra Leone will commence from the 25th to 27th March 2022 with participants from other parts of the world including other African countries and the United States of America.

According to the release, the event will showcase the prestigious talents of Sierra Leonean cyclists as they connect, learn, and impact their own knowledge onto other riders.
