Rift widens in Sierra Leone FA after AfCON

Disturbing revelations and disagreements are beginning to emerge following Leone Stars campaign at AfCON in Cameroon. After the national football team crashed out in the group stage of the continent’s most prestigious tournament, there were assertions in many quarters of disagreements and lack of discipline in the camp and now things are beginning to come out in the open with much embarrassing rapidity.

Bio calls for donor support to construct Lungi Bridge

President Julius Madaa Bio has called on donors to support the Lungi Bridge project. He made this call in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, on the 7th February 2022 during a Business Forum organized by United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).

He said part of the country’s strategy is to build the bridge that connects the capital to the area where the airport is currently located, noting that this infrastructural development will attract enormous economic and other benefits.  

Journalist released on bail

Popular journalist in Bo working for FM KISS 104, Solomon Joe, was yesterday released on bail after he was reportedly arrested by the police for allegedly broadcasting transaction issues between two businessmen.

Earlier after the broadcast that led to his arrest, according to a statement put out by the Media Reform Coordinating Group (MRCG), two officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Freetown reportedly went to Bo on Monday 7th February 2022 and “ordered the arrest”.

EPA destroys five illegal mining dredges

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the Southern Region has burnt five dredges involved in the illegal mining of gold.

In an interview with Politico on the 8th February 2022 the Regional Information Education and Communication Officer, EPA South, Fomba Sheriff explained that the dredges were destroyed within nine days.

I want to improve students’ performance – Vice-Chancellor, CUMT

The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of the Canadian University of Modern Technology (CUMT) in Mile 91, Professor Allyson Sesay has vowed to improve on the general standards and performance of the university and its students. 

He says he is aware of the role he has taken and the challenges of the university, noting that he does not condone examination malpractice. He said he has already spotted many motivated students who were unable to graduate because they were financially challenged and needed to be encouraged.

Njala Introduces Early Childhood Care Education Unit
