By Politico staff writer

Police in the Bo East division are investigating a businessman Sheku Bah for “illegal” possession of electricity cables.

During questioning at the Police station, Bah said that he bought the wires at 40,000.00 per kilo from vendors who met him at his workplace.

He could not say where he was taking the 26 bags of electricity materials loaded in a truck, before his arrest. According to reports, Bah was taking the materials to neighbouring Guinea.

The Public Relations Officer of the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA), South East Mohamed Bash Kay Sheriff said they got a tip-off and went to Mahei Boima Road, Toyota Garage where they met the accused.  He added that the driver for the vehicle and the apprentice ran away.

Sheriff said that this is not the first time that people have been caught vandalizing electricity materials leaving their customers in darkness.

He noted the latest electricity theft that happened at Torpoi Town in Bo, cost them huge monies to replace the stolen cables.

He, therefore, called on the public to be watchdogs of those facilities as they are the ones that experience blackout when electricity materials are stolen in their communities.

Police Media Officer Southern Region, Assistant Superintendent of police Mohamed Bobson Senu said the police will investigate the matter and they'll bring whosoever that is named and that those who will be arrested will be charged to court.
