Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Court No. 1 has acquitted and discharged one Santigie Manika Kamara who was accused of damaging corporate structure on a land belonging to a church at Mile 96 in the Northern Province of Sierra Leone.

Sierra Leone main stadium rehabilitation in progress

The rehabilitation  of the national stadium that started in April this year is progressing well as captured during a conducted tour of the complex by the Minister of Sports, Engineers and Journalists.

During the tour, the minister Ibrahim Nyelenkeh explained that since the stadium has been closed to the public for some time now, there have been concerns by the public as to the progress being made so far in the rehabilitation process.

Fourah Bay College gets ultramodern building

In a bid to aid the constraints faced by students in accessing conducive classrooms, an alumnus of Fourah Bay College (FBC) University of Sierra Leone (USL) has handed over an ultra-modern building to the college administration.

Speaking at the commissioning of the building, the alumnus Engineer Alhaji Mohamed Babatunde Cole said that the gesture is just part of meeting his duty to his alma mater.

Speaker wants bank governor in parliament

The Speaker of Parliament Dr.  Abass Bundu says the Bank Governor Professor Kaifala Kallon should explain to lawmakers the reported limitations placed on cash withdrawals at commercial banks across the country.

No date was given for the appearance of Prof. Kallon but the Speaker on Monday 18th July 2022 said he could be expected to meet with Parliamentarians even if it should be at the Committee level.

Attorney General defends Public Elections Bill

Sierra Leone’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice (AG), Mohamed Lamin Tarawally says the Public Election Bill of 2022 that seeks to repeal the 2012 version if passed into law will be for the good of all Sierra Leoneans.

The AG said this while responding to concerns raised by members of parliament during debate of the second reading of the bill at the house of Parliament on Monday 18th July 2022.
