Sierra Leone election body pushes for electoral reforms

The Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) is on the move for ensuring electoral reforms ahead of the 2023 elections.

According to the Executive Secretary of ECSL, William Addo Davies, after every general election in Sierra Leone, there is an electoral circle that needs reflection and during that period, the commission found out challenges and learnt lessons.

ACC boss calls for collective fight against graft

The Head of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Francis Ben Kaifala says graft is an evil that demands a collective fight. He made this statement during a public lecture in Kenema while calling on all to join the fight.

Addressing the gathering at the event which was organized by the Students Union Government of the Eastern Technical University (ETU), Kaifala said corruption has destroyed many things that would have been good for the development of the country.

Gov’t to construct 100 more classrooms

The Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has said that the government will be constructing another new set of 100 classrooms for both junior and senior secondary schools across Sierra Leone.

Dr. Sengeh made the disclosure yesterday 14th July 2022 at the weekly press briefing hosted by the Ministry of Information and Communications, stating that this is in addition to the new 100 classrooms for schools they partnered to build, including hostels in Port Loko and Kenema.

Energy boosts for Aberdeen, 4 other communities

Work on the construction of five primary sub-stations in communities in Freetown is set to commence this July through the energy sector utility reform project.

The Communication expert at the Ministry of Energy Austine Luseni told Politico that the project will improve the transmission line threefold and also ensure the construction of five primary substations at Aberdeen, Falcon Bridge, Cline Town, Jui and Waterloo.
