SLAJ president braces up for second term

The President of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists and his executive members are set to take the association through the next three years with a new manifesto commitment called the MEAL manifesto.

The transition from the SALT Manifesto which stands for Stimulate/Strengthen, Appreciate, Listen/Learn, and Transfer, to the MEAL, the acronym for Mobilize, Evaluate, Allocate and Liberate was officiated on the 23rd of July in Bo at a retreat held to orientate the new executive.

Environment ministry consults women on environmental plans

The Ministry of Environment with support from UNDP on the 11th July 2022 held a regional consultation on the Development of a five-year Gender Sensitive Strategic Plan on environmental management in Kenema.

 The consultation targeted mostly women from different women groups that are engaged in environmental management through tree planting.

Magistrate Momoh Lanasana in Bonthe District has granted bail to a woman accused of manslaughter after the death of a 21-year-old she allegedly subjected to Female Genital cutting.

The Magistrate released the Sowei known as Sowo Sandy who is said to be in her 60s after the prosecution, for the second time, failed to bring forth their witnesses.
