Magistrate orders mental evaluation of murder suspect

Principal Magistrate, Mark Ngegba, presiding the Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown, has given a final instruction to the prosecution to provide evidence of the mental evaluation of Kassim Watfa, who was alleged by the defense to have an unsound mind.

Watfa was charged for allegedly murdering Sergeant Mahmoud Barrie, a soldier of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), at Hill Station, Freetown, in May this year.

Landlord granted bail over Le 50 million theft

Principal Magistrate Mark Ngegba, of the Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown, has levied a one hundred thousand (NLe 100,000) bail condition on Abass Kabba who was accused of stealing from Sahr Ellie the sum of fifty thousand Leones (NLe 50,000) and unlawfully evicting him at his shop. 

Kabba was before the court to answer to charges of Unlawful Eviction and Larceny contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

Defense dissatisfied as prosecution, witness fail to appear

The defense team representing seven men charged for committing various public order offences in the Sambaia Bendugu bye-election in Tonkolili district has expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of both the prosecution and its witness(es) for the continuation of the matter.

On Thursday 1st September 2022, the prosecution appeared in court, but there was no witness for the trial to commence, so the matter was adjourned to Monday 5th September 2022 due to this disruption.

Airfield occupants ask for permanent relocation

Head for Truck Owners and Garages at Hastings Sheku Kanneh has asked that the government finds a permanent location for them. He made this call following a press release issued by the Ministry of Transport and Aviation stating that all activities going on in and around the land should be suspended.
