Court refuses to release opposition MP on bail

Member of Parliament for the main opposition All People's Congress (APC) party representing Constituency 056 in Karene district, Mohamed Bangura, and the Chairperson of the party in Tonkolili district, Yabom Sesay, were yesterday refused bail following five count charges levied against them.

MP denies attacking journalist

In response to a press statement by the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) condemning an alleged attack on a journalist in Kono by the Coalition for Change (C4C) Party leader in Parliament, Member of Parliament Sahr Emerson Lamina, the MP has denied the allegation, saying that media body did not get the story right.  

“Arata” remanded for robbery

Magistrate Isata Sellu-Tucker of Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown has remanded Alicious Deen Tarawalie alias “Arata” for allegedly robbing Carlton Bull of a Samsung J4+ android mobile phone valued two million five hundred thousand Leones (OLe 2,500,000). 

Yesterday September 12, Tarawallie appeared before the court on one count charge of Robbery with Aggravation.

Court record says Tarawallie on Thursday 1st September 2022 at Beach Road, Lumley, Freetown, being armed with a knife, robbed Bull, the complainant.

NEW urges judiciary to speak on electoral offences

Magistrate testifies in a land fraud matter

A Magistrate attached to Daru Court in the Kailahun District, Aaron Bangura has told the Freetown Magistrate Court No.2 that he witnessed the payment of seventy thousand Leones (NLe70, 000) to Foday Bangura and Mohamed Islam Tarawally who were accused of obtaining the sum of one hundred and forty thousand Leones (NLe140, 000) from Adekallie Bangura on the pretext that they have land for sale measuring four town lots.

Foday and Mohamed face charges of conspiracy to commit a felony and obtaining money by false pretenses.
