Vice President (VP) Dr. Juldeh Jalloh has called on Member States of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to bring private sector investment into the energy market, which he said has been challenged with a solid infrastructure.

He made this call while addressing members of the Fifth ECOWAS Parliament at a five-day delocalized joint meeting at the conference room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Freetown on the 20^th of March 2023.

The Minister of Transport and Aviation, Kabineh Kallon has assured a cross-section of Sierra Leone Airport Authority (SLAA) staff that no one will be left out or disadvantaged when paying their end-of-service benefits.

He made this statement during a meeting with representatives of SLAA, Summa Group of Companies, Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA), SLAA Board, and State Counsel at the ministry’s Conference Room, Freetown, and 20th March 2023.

Siaka Sama, an independent MP from Pujehun district, has told a mass rally in the district headquarters that he would support the re-election of President Julius Maada Bio in June.  He said he didn’t go as far as declaring for the SLPP now because he was still sitting as an independent MP.

Electricity Service providers using mini-grids in provincial rural communities have blamed the frequent blackout on the too many illegal connectors that they say have surpassed the projected number of electricity users, resulting in the weakening of the batteries of the mini-grids.

This was disclosed by authorities at a Press Conference held at the Ministry of Energy in Freetown Monday 20^th March 2023.

Sierra Leones Parliament has approved a bilateral agreement that seeks to improve the welfare of migrant workers in Qatar. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Professor David Francis said the agreement seeks to protect the rights of Sierra Leoneans in Qatar.

An alleged victim of visa fraud, Hannah Ayawova Musa, has told the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1 that she had to sell everything including chairs in a shop she had rented for two years, just to raise money for a traveling programme to New Zealand that turned out to be false.

The court heard how she in turn also rented out the shop, having already paid NLE 15,000 (Fifteen thousand new Leones) and $300 (Three hundred United States Dollars) to the first accused, Fatmata Kula Shaw (24) after she called to say her visa was ready.
