KAMARAINBA TO APPEAL TRIAL BY JUDGE ALONE

Defence lawyers for the leader of the National Democratic Alliance Party Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray, who is standing trial for conspiracy and sexual penetration, have said that they are filing an appeal against the judge's ruling to try their client by judge alone.

Makeni Riot: arresting officer testifies in court

Detective Police Constable 1355 Paul Lewis, who was involved in the arrest of some of the irate youths who participated in the recent unrest in the Northern City of Makeni has testified before Magistrate Mark Ngegba in Freetown in the ongoing preliminary investigations into a seven-count charge including conspiracy to commit an offense and carrying offensive weapon without lawful authority, among others.

ACC engages southeast on Covid-19

Nurse escapes from quarantine

The District COVID-19 Emergency Response Center (DICOVERC) in Pujehun has informed Politico that a nurse has escaped quarantine since last Thursday, and that efforts to recover her were under way.

The Spokesperson for the DICOVERC, Mohamed Massaquoi, said on Tuesday that the nurse who had tested negative for the virus during the first 14 days period in quarantine was waiting for her third test result when she abandoned the quarantine center.

The female nurse had spent 22 days in total in quarantine.

Land dispute leaves 5 wounded

Clashes over land between two villages in Pujehun District, southern Sierra Leone, has left at least five people hospitalized as a result of alleged gunshot wounds.

The two villages Bomi and Gbanahun in Peri Chiefdom, Pujehun District, according to district authorities, have been having disagreement over who owns the particular piece of land under dispute. The issue has gone to both the chiefdom and district authorities who set up a committee to look into the said issue.

FBC students launch drive to establish e library

The Students Union Government (SUG) of Fourah Bay College (FBC), University of Sierra Leone (USL), has launched a campaign designed to equip the college’s library with much more relevant books and to establish an e-library portal for remote access by students. The student body is leading the efforts in collaboration with the college administration.
