Sierra Leone education minister assured of transformation of polytech

The Minister of Technical and Higher Education, Professor Alpha Tejan Wurie has on the 11th June,2021 assured  staff and students of the Eastern Polytechnic of finalizing the processes of it transformation into a university status by October this year.

 Professor Wurie said the transformation of Eastern Polytechnic into a university has been in progress for quite a long time and that the transformation process will soon complete.

Orange Sierra Leone increases Social venture Prize

In an effort to boost young local entrepreneurs in Sierra Leone, Orange Sierra Leone has announced increment of the Orange Social Venture Price (OSVP) by 400% the initial prize money announced by the telecom.

The initial prize announced was a Le 25, 000,000 million (Twenty-five million) grants for young entrepreneurs with innovative business ideas.

As Sierra Leone joined other countries in the world to commemorate World Blood Donor Day, on Monday 14 June 2021, Osman Kargbo, the Lab Lead and Technical Head attached to the National Safe Blood Services at the Princess Christian Maternity Hospital (PCMH) has told Politico that only 20 percent of people in Sierra Leone donate blood on their own volition.

Reverend Dr. Sahr Yambasu, 63, a native of Sierra Leone recently took over the role of president at one of Ireland’s main churches, the Methodist Church, succeeding Rev Tom McKnight after a ceremony in south Belfast on Wednesday, June 9th, 2021. He is the first Black to have ever held the position.

Sierra Leone Tourism Board ends consultative engagement

The National Tourism Board has on the 11th June 2021 ended a stakeholder’s engagement in the eastern region in a bid to identify potential tourism attraction sites within the region.

The engagement brought together owners of hotels, guest houses, restaurants, and entertainment centers. Commercial bike riders, drivers, petty traders, and artists were also in attendance.
