TSC urges teachers to take COVID-19 Vaccine

The Teaching Service Commission (TSC) Sierra Leone has in a press statement urged all teachers to get their COVID vaccination in the nearest centers across the country.

The statement noted that in line with the recent announcement by the National COVID Emergency Response Center (NaCOVERC) of the third wave of the coronavirus disease in the country, the teachers are part of the priority group for the COVID vaccination.

Miatta Kargbo’s judgment due in two weeks

Justices of the Appeal Court having heard arguments from both appellant and state counsel with regards the Commissions of Inquiry (COI) appeal matter involving former Minister of Health and Sanitation, Miatta Kargbo has on the 23rd June 2021 reserved judgment in two weeks’ time.

It is on record that Kargbo was one of the indicted persons of the (COI) based on findings that the former minister misappropriated funds and also failed to declare her assets as per law, among others.

Still no surgery for woman with scissors in abdomen in northern Sierra Leone

Zainab Kamara, 28, still lives with a pair of scissors in her abdomen which was allegedly left there during a caesarean operation she underwent seven years ago. She has since been having difficulty moving her right leg and has endured persistent bleeding which has brought her discomfort and stigmatization among her peers. She only knew she had the instrument in her abdomen at the Kambia Government hospital after a pelvic x-ray was conducted. 

Man, 55, caught stealing inside a Freetown hospital

A 55-year-old man, Alfred Bull was caught stealing a lady’s bag at West End Clinic on Edward Street via Sanders Street in Freetown on the 22nd June 2021.

Bull in the afternoon hours of yesterday used the auxiliary gate leading to the staircase to gain access to the upper floors of the building.  He then made an attempt to grab a black leather bag belonging to Nurse Konima Kamara.

ECOWAS leaders address security and democracy

Leaders of the regional bloc ECOWAS at their 59th ordinary session in the Ghanaian capital Accra, have addressed issues related to peace, security and democracy in West Africa, all of which they believe are “prerequisites for the economic integration and development of the region”. In a communiqué released on 19 June 2021 at the end of the meeting by the Authority of Heads of State and Government, concerns were expressed over the political crisis in Mali and the attendant security challenges in the country.
