Victim was killed with a blunt object – says pathologist

State Pathologist, Dr. Simeon Owizz Koroma has testified at the High Court in Freetown that Sholade Jones, 26, was killed with a blunt object that resembled a baseball bat or a big stick.

Dr. Koroma was testifying against Abilola Lionel Jones and Gifty Jones who were arraigned in court on one and two count charges. Both accused who were brother and sister to the deceased were charged with conspiracy to commit a murder and murder contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

Plans to mount Information boxes across Sierra Leone

Four arrested in Fabala over alleged murder

Police in Falaba district have arrested four people over the death of 41-year-old Ibrahim Jagitay in Kombili Town in Morifindugu Chiefdom, Falaba district after he was beaten up by the family of his spouse.

Jagitay, according to sources, had an encounter with his wife’s family when he went to see his children on Tuesday 28th September this year. The children had been staying with their mother following a misunderstanding between the separated parents.

PrEP to be rolled out for Sex workers

The Director General for the HIV/AIDS Secretariat Abdul Rahman Sesay says “condom use is declining”, and the secretariat would want to roll out Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for sex workers. He was speaking during the budget hearing at the Ministry of Finance in Freetown.  He explained that most sex workers do not use condoms in their trade and are paid more for sex without condoms than the other way round.

West Africa Road Safety conference ends today

The General Assembly of the West Africa Road Safety Organization hosted by Sierra Leone to discuss measures at ensuring road safety in the West African Sub-region will end today 8th October 2021. The conference held at the Freetown International Conference Centre was organized by the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and Aviation.

APC wins Koinadugu Bye Election

The Koinadugu district local council chairperson bye election has been won by All Peoples Congress (APC) candidate Lawrence Teteh Kargbo . The National Electoral Commission late evening of Tuesday 5th October 2021 released a statement certifying the result of the election which indicated Kargbo secured 20,435 votes whilst his only challenger Alhaji Sheku Koroma of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) got 13,061 votes.
