CHRDI signs MoU with Sanusi Research and Consulting

In order to be in line with today's data-driven society,a Social Policy Advocacy  group, Campaign for Human Rights and Development International (CHARDI), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with an information Analysis and management firm, Sanusi Research and Consulting.

The event which took place in Freetown on the 8th of October 2021, marks the beginning of a relationship that will see CHRDI enhancing its data analysis capabilities and aspirations.

Malaria vaccine proves research saves lives – Prof. Sankoh

Top Sierra Leonean researcher Prof. Osman Sankoh, whose contribution led to the certification last week of the landmark malaria vaccine, has said that he hopes the breakthrough is proof enough that research can save lives.

“My hope is that Sierra Leone and other African countries will have seen in this an example that the research we do can save lives,” he said, following reports of the approval by the World Health Organization (WHO) for widespread distribution of the jabs.

The Risk Communication Lead of the National Coronavirus Response Centre (NaCOVERC), Harold Thomas has pleaded with Sierra Leoneans to adhere to COVID-19 protocols, despite the country’s being struck-off the UK Government’s Red List of countries considered to be risky in terms of travel during this pandemic.

The Kenema district Livestock Officer in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Paul Martin Ngegba has on the 6th October 2021 told Politico that 90 cases of dog bites have so far been recorded since the beginning of this year. He however stated that none of the cases has turned out to be rabies –related.   He advised people having dogs to make sure the animals are vaccinated especially those having constant interaction with people in the community.

Children Commission makes case for Sierra Leone children

The Deputy Commissioner for the Children’s Commission Sierra Leone has said that punishment against children who come in conflict with the law are a contributing factor to the destruction of their future.

“Jailing juvenile for 15 years is part of destroying the future of the child for life, because after the jail term they  will not learn anything that will benefit them,’’ he said.
