Senior Police officers have given an insight into a widely circulated video on social media purporting to show a young girl being pulled by the hair, and accompanied by an audio in which a man’s voice could be heard demanding a ransom alongside threats of sexual assault and death.

46% of Munafa Fund repaid after 6 months

Six months into the pilot phase of government’s Munafa Fund that provides soft loans to private business owners, a 46.91% repayment has so far been made by the borrowers who manage Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).   

This was disclosed by Shaka Sannoh the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDA) the fund’s supervisory institution during an engagement with stakeholders of the scheme at Sierra Bay hotel in Freetown on Wednesday 29 September 2021.

Sierra Leone gets $25 million for school feeding programme

Catholic Relief Services CRS Country Representative, Paul Emes has announced a 25 million US Dollar grant secured by the government of Sierra Leone to support the school feeding programme in the country.

Country Representative for CRS made the announcement during a media interface session held by the organisation on the 28th September 2021 at the Radisson Blu Mammy Yoko Hotel in Aberdeen, Freetown.

For appearing without a face mask, Sierra Leone court remands 18-year-old

Justice Monfred Sesay has sent one John Alie ‘Strong Life’ Sankoh, 18, on remand on Thursday 30th September this year because he failed to appear in court without a face mask.

Sankoh was supposed to be arraigned in court on the said date on a one count indictment. The 18-year-old was charged to court for the offence of Burglary and Larceny contrary to Sections 25(1) and 13 (a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

All set for Concord Times 2021 Summit

West Africa Bureau Chief for Concord Times, Benjamin Gabriel has told journalists on Friday 1st October 2021 that his institution is ready to launch their 2021 summit that will take place on the 8th October this year.

“The summit is put together to provide a platform for policy makers, citizens, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), men of the media, youths to come together and have a conversation about good governance,” Gabriel said.
