400%  expenditure rise in tuition & exams in Sierra Leone

The government has spent over 400% on national examinations and tuition fees. This increment is a combined expenditure for NPSE, BECE and WASSCE together with tuition fees since the introduction of the Free Quality Education (FQE) programme by the present government.

Moijueh Kaikai defeated in Pujehun chieftaincy election

A former Minister of Social Welfare in the government of Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma has lost his bid to become the Paramount Chief of Kpanga Chiefdom in Pujehun district. Alhaji Moijueh Kaikai was defeated by his brother Ibrahim Andrew Jaiah Kaikai, the father of the country’s Chief Immigration Officer.

Sierra Leone, India sign power line agreement

Sierra Leone’s Minister of Energy, Alhaji Kanja Sesay has signed a contract for the construction of a 225kva Double Circuit 66kv multi circular electricity transmission line with Indian Company WAPCOS.

The Ministry believes that the contract, which was signed on the 13th October this year, is a way of actualising government’s commitment of ensuring that every part of the country is connected to the country’s grid or mini grid.

Former worker docked over missing $500,000

Randa Skeiky, an accused in a $500,000 theft matter, has pleaded not guilty to the charge during trial at a Freetown high court, presided over by Justice Momoh-Jah Stevens .

The complainant in the matter, Ali Abess a popular transport businessman testified before  the same judge in August last year. Abess, in his testimony, accused Skeiky of stealing the said sum. Abess told the judge the accused was managing his branch office in Kenema when he called her to come to Freetown as he would be traveling out of the country.

Kingho now Leone Rock Metal Group

The Chief Executive officer of the Kingho Investment Compan, Gilbert Zhao, has said that the name of Kingho Investment Company, which is the parent company of Kingho Mining, Railway, and Port Company, has now changed to Leone Rock Metal Group (LRMG) , with the aim of giving it a Sierra Leonean identity.
