Healey International gets grant for health projects

Healey International Relief Foundation that works in Sierra Leone through Caritas Freetown has announced that its receipt of a United States Agency for International Development (USAID) grant through the American Schools and Hospitals Abroad (ASHA) programme, to support its work in Sierra Leone.

This was announced at a Press Conference held on the 18th November 2022 at the Caritas Freetown Office at Kingtom in Freetown.

As Sierra Leone observes International Children’s Day, the Deputy Commissioner at the National Children’s Commission (NCC) Fabundeh Ansumana has called on the government and other stakeholders to ensure that polices, structures and services are put in place to protect the country’s children.

Speaking to Politico on the 18th November 2022, Ansumana said this year’s theme is titled “Better tomorrow for the children”, which he said can only be achieved when better policy frameworks are established.

Climate Change affects 215 million Africans – Report

A report by Institute for Governance Reform (IGR) and Afro Barometer has indicated that between 2010 and 2022, climate change has affected 215.3 million Africans.

This makes the continent having the top ten most climate vulnerable countries in the world with just over 20% of the world population.

This is according to the Information Attache of the Sierra Leone Embassy in United Arab Emirate. 

The summit was to highlight and discuss issues affecting women and girls in the African continent.
