Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown has remanded four bike riders - Joseph Conteh, Lamin Yusif Moigua, Saidu Kalokoh, John Laggawo - and a student, Bashiru Daniel Sesay, who were charged with Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Robbery with Violence, Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm, Wounding, and Wounding with Intent.

Sierra Leone opposition party concerned about hate speech

The National Unity and Reconciliation Party (NURP) has expressed concern about the alarming rate at which hate speech and inciting messages are prevalent on social media.

The party made this concern through a press release dated 10th November 2022, noting that the manner in which social media platforms are used to promote hateful speech, inciting messages, and unlawful protest across in the country, is alarming.

Bike Riders & Triad sign housing scheme agreement

The Bike Riders Union and Triad Engineering Company have signed an agreement for the start of a ‘Bike Riders Investment Scheme’ that would provide housing units for members of the Union. The event was held at the John James Complex in Eastern Freetown, on Saturday 12th November, 2022.

No Tangains this year

The annual Tangains Festival held at the Siaka Stevens Stadium in Freetown will not take place this year, according to the organizers of the event.

One of the organizers, Tutie Haffner of  Freetong Players Group told Politico that since the stadium is closed to the public because of its renovation project, it’s been difficult to find a suitable place to organize this year’s event.

Njala University concludes orientation for over 8,000 undergrads

Njala University has on Friday 11th November 2022 concluded a two-day orientation for over 8,000 freshmen  admitted to the University's various programmes for the 2022/2023 academic year.

The sessions began on Thursday 10th November 2022, at Njala Campus' University Auditorium under the distinguished patronage of Professor Alieu Mohamed Bah, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Njala Campus.
