Landowners want CTC bauxite license revoked

A Member of Parliament, Abdul Karim Kamara, representing Constituency 069, Port Loko District, has presented a petition letter to the house parliament on behalf of the land owners of his constituents calling for the cancelation of the mining license of CTC Company. 

The landowners of the Bauxite mineral mining communities of  Maforki Chiefdom in Port Loko District  said they were left out  in the deliberations. 

ACC admonishes Milton Margai freshmen

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has engaged over 4,000 (four thousand) freshmen of the Milton Margai Technical University on integrity values to tackle corruption through preventive approach.

The event took place during the institution’s orientation ceremony for the 2022/2023 academic year at its Amphitheatre, Goderich campus in Freetown.

National Museum remembers Marco the sculptor

Sierra Leone’s talented Sculptor, the late Samuel Samei Marco who died years ago has been remembered by having his works displayed at the Sierra Leone National Museum.

Sculptures that include late President Siaka Probyn Stevens, his Father and others were on the 23rd November, 2022 unveiled at the historic building that houses some of the country’s most treasured artifacts.

Sierra Leonean shortlisted for innovation prize

A young Sierra Leonean Entrepreneur, Margaret Yainkain Mansaray  has been   shortlisted together with 14 other African innovators for the 2023 Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation, founded by the Royal Academy of Engineering.

The academy in a press release dated 23rd November 2022 stated that Mansaray had invented a non-electric cooking Smart Green Stove, which is said to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and health risks, thereby drastically limiting energy use by 70 percent.

Excitement as Innoson exports made-in-Nigeria vehicles to Sierra Leone

Nigeria’s indigenous vehicle manufacturing company, Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Ltd, has delivered the first set of vehicles manufactured for the Government of Sierra Leone as ordered by the country’s Ministry of Defence.

This is in fulfilment of a promise made during a working visit to Innoson Vehicles by the top hierarchy of the Sierra Leone Defence Ministry led by Mr Edward Soloku, the Minister of Internal Affairs as well as Sierra Leone Road Transport Corporation (SLRTC) led by its President Mr Isaac Ken-Green.
