Sierra Leone to become second African country to conduct Intra Action Review on Covid-19

Sierra Leone is set to attain another milestone in global health security by becoming the second country in the WHO Africa Region to conduct an Intra-Action Review (IAR) on the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

The review, which is slated to take place on September 22nd and 23rd, is a stocktaking process designed to evaluate the country’s response to the pandemic to enable it make improvements.

Police investigating suspected attempt to compromise teenage pregnancy

Police in Bo say they are investigating a suspected attempt of a family to compromise an alleged matter of teenage pregnancy involving two minors.

The Family Support Unit of the police at the Bo West Police Station are handling the matter which was reported since last week. Politico understands that at least two people were detained briefly over the issue that involves a 13 year old girl who was allegedly impregnated by an underage boy.

Advocacy group demands equal treatment for rape suspects in Sierra Leone

A community based organization in Kenema, Our Girl Child Foundation, is demanding that the judiciary treat rape suspects equally in terms of granting bail during investigations or trials.

The organization claims that boys are most likely to be remanded and denied bail whiles men, especially those of higher standing in society, are granted bail.
