ACC trains MDAs in Bo

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has on Friday 28th May 2021 ended a day’s presentation and training on the use of compliance Sanction Management and Enforcement Procedure Handbook with officials of Ministries Department and Agencies (MDAs) in Bo.

Making a presentation, Samson Saidu Head of Compliance Sanction Management at the ACC said in 2020, the commission with the participation of 32 MDAs put together a handbook with participation of 32 MDAS,that was later reviewed.

Isha Johansen quits Sierra Leone FA presidential race

President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Isha Johansen, has in a press release on the 1st June 2020, quit her position as President of the FA.

Johansen stated that her new job as a FIFA Council Member requires a great deal of time and effort that will hinder her service to the Football Association. “My new role will require extensive global travelling and consequently increased demand on my time,” she stated in her resignation letter.

New Procurement Authority Branch for Kenema

The National Public Procurement Authority (NPPA) will this Friday June 4 open its first eastern region branch in Kenema city, as part of its drive to decentralise the procurement process in the country.

The Chief Executive Officer of NPPA Ibrahim Brima Swarray told Politico that the initiative is in fulfilment of the government’s desire for efficiency and service delivery to the doorsteps of the people in the provinces.

NMJD trains platform members on advocacy

In an effort to boost their advocacy skills, Oxfam and implementing partners, the Network Movement for Justice and Development have trained over 40 natural resource rights and economic justice advocates on a new advocacy phenomenon known as Influencing.   

The training which was held in Freetown on the 31st of May 2021 brought together advocacy platform members from seven districts of Kono, Tonkolili, Bonthe, Moyamba, Kenema and Port Loko .

Priority Solutions organizes Orange 4G+ launch

An events management and multimedia company, Priority Solutions has successfully launched the Orange Sierra Leone’s 4G+ network.

The theme of the 4G+ is superheroes. To reflect this during the launch the company made superhero costumes with a shield designed from a locally sourced raffia plant, painted green, white, and blue.

Guests were greeted by superheroes and were given superhero caps and shields as souvenirs.

Sierra Leone diplomats detained over New York chancery building

The Anti- Corruption Commission (ACC) has announced the detainment of some Sierra Leonean diplomats in the wake of investigations into issues surrounding “renovation or reconstruction’’ of the country’s Chancery building in New York in the United States.

Details of the identity of the officials detained have not been released by the commission but the statement confirmed the head of chancery was among those held since Friday 28 May 2021.
