‘Robber’ missing or dead? –court uncertain

Freetown High Court no. 2 Judge Musu Damba Kamara was left perplexed as to whether an accused robber, Yusuf Bangura facing trial was dead or missing and on Monday 23rd August 2021, ordered the court Registrar to subpoena a medical doctor at the Pademba Road Correctional Centre to corroborate an officer’s submission that the accused had died in prison.  The judge went to her records and realized that the accused had appeared in court days later from the date the officer gave for his death

Social Worker testifies against Moyamba ‘robbers’

One Victoria Precious Libby, a social worker in Moyamba has testified against 16 accused persons standing trial at High Court No. 2 in Freetown for a robbery incident that occurred in Moyamba in 2019.

Libby was led in evidence by State Prosecutors Joseph A.K. Sesay and Solomon Christian Kekura on Tuesday 24th August 2021.

IPCB trains security personnel on Rwanda Security guidelines

The Independent Police Complaint Board (IPCB), together with UNDP, has conducted a training to build the capacity of the Sierra Leone Police, Fire Force, Correctional Service ,Civil Society and Inter-Religious bodies on the implementation of the Rwanda Security guidelines. The training took place in Kenema on Monday 23 August 2021.

The Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Public Health and Head of Surveillance Pillar Dr. Sattie Kenneh, National COVID-19 Emergency Response Centre (NaCOVERC) has on 20th August 2021 announced the end of the third wave of the pandemic, noting that the country has been recording single digits and occasionally zero cases in recent times.
