7 years imprisonment for burglar

Justice Alusine Sesay has sentenced one Joseph Tucker, 20, to seven years at the Pademba Road maximum facility for housebreaking and larceny after pleading guilty.

Tucker is said to have broken into the dwelling of one Pastor Annette Kargbo and carted away with a total sum of forty-two million, and fifty thousand Leones (Le 42,050,000) early this year.

Sierra Leone introduces recruitment license

The Ministry of Labour and Social Security has in a press release announced the introduction of a recruitment license for overseas employment agencies. According to the statement, this is to ensure that the recruitment agencies have legalized status whiles performing their functions.

The release which was issued on the 21st September 2021 indicated that in order for recruitment agencies to carry out their recruitment in and out of the country, they should ensure they have licensed their agencies.

7 years imprisonment for manslaughter

Justice Monfred Momoh Sesay has on the 23rd September this year sentenced 20-years-old Ibrahim Kamara, to seven years imprisonment for unlawfully killing his cousin Sulaiman Bah in Freetown.

Kamara was at first charged with the offence of murder but was later reduced to manslaughter on the request and acceptance of both the prosecutor, Joseph A. K. Sesay and defence lawyer, Komba Kanu.

MTA to curb overpricing of public transportation

As a way of putting an end to the overpricing of public transport fares by commercial drivers in contravention of  a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)they signed with the Ministry of Transport and Aviation (MTA) whenever fuel pump price changes, MTA will by the end of 2021 set up a transport sector policy that will put an end to it.
