AYV takes Sierra Leone’s story global

The Africa Young Voices (AYV) television is now on Direct Satellite Television (DSTV) managed by Multi-Choice Company based in South Africa. The formal events to mark the commencement of such a development were held in Freetown on Friday 17 September 2021.  

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AYV Media Empire Anthony Navo urged all Sierra Leoneans, especially content creators to use the AYV channel on DSTV to sell Sierra Leone to Africa.

FOCUS 1000 joins  Covid-19 vaccination exercise

The NGO FOCUS 1000 and its partner the Kombra Network on Friday 17th September 202 held a one-day planning session for an upcoming mass vaccination exercise against the Covid-19 virus.

The vaccination exercise, according to officials, is part of efforts to increase the uptake of Covid-19 jabs in the country where official figures show that only about 2 percent of the population has been inoculated against the viral pandemic.

MOYA introduces inclusivity in SGS

The Deputy Country Representative UNDP, Ms. Rokya Ye Dieng has told journalists during the weekly government news conference that this year’s Social Good Summit (SGS) has introduced new dimension of inclusiveness into the competition for young people with solution for assistive technology mainly to support people with disability. She explained that cash prizes will be given to winners and runners up to encourage them to continue investing in their solutions.

Le 53 million fine for EDSA thieves

Magistrate Sahr Kekura at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court has placed a fine of 53 million Leones on Alhaji Kargbo and Issa Bangura for stealing and receiving properties of the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA).

The two men were also charged together with one Mohamed Samura. The Magistrate, however, discharged and acquitted Samura because of lack of evidence on the allegations against him.

Sierra Leone's president Visits John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum

Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has in a conducted tour visited the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston, dedicated to the memory of America’s 35th President and all those, who through the art of politics seek a new and better world.

The library and museum are part of the Presidential Library System, which is administered by the Office of Presidential Libraries, a part of the National Archives and Records Administration of the United States.

SILNORF engages stakeholders on the right to food

The Sierra Leone Network on the Right to Food (SiLNORF) has on the 17th September 2021 held a Multi-stakeholders engagement on the right of food and land rights issues affecting the communities in Small Bo and Dama chiefdoms.

Addressing the stakeholders from various communities in the two chiefdoms, the program manager for community Empowerment project implemented by SiLNoRF, Ibrahim Barrie said they advocate and support community people on their right to food and land.

VP Juldeh Jalloh decorates 46 Senior Police officers

As the Sierra Leone Police reintroduces the old ranking system, the Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, who doubles as the Chairman of the Police Council, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh on Friday 17 September, 2021 decorated 46 senior officers, ranging from Assistant Commissioners, Commissioners and Assistant Inspector Generals of Police.
