Ministry of Tourism validates National Integrated Tourism Curriculum

The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs (MTCA) and the National Tourist Board (NTB) on Friday 10th May 2022 validated the draft national integrated tourism, hotel and hospitality management curriculum for the tourism sector. 

The event held at the Family Kingdom Resort, Aberdeen in Freetown was supported by the Enhanced Integrated Framework Tier 2 under the Sustainable Tourism Development and Promotion Project.

OTC engages on sexual harassment of the disabled

Opportunity Training Centre, (OTC) Kenema,  an organization catering to persons living with impairment, has on the 26th and 27 May 2022, adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards sexual exploitation and abuse of its beneficiaries, following a two-day training on Sexual Harassment Policy at the institution’s conference hall in Kenema.

Court acts against police officer for skipping sitting

A senior police officer at the Kenema Police Division, Margaret Feika, who is standing trial at the Kenema Magistrate Court for obtaining goods by fraud, failed to appear again before presiding Magistrate Gershon Macarthy of the Kenema Magistrate court. 

According to the particulars of offence in December 2021, the accused Feika took the goods of Mamawa Koroma at IDA Section in Kenema valued at Le1, 350,000 and has since failed to pay for the goods she took on credit after so many unmet promises. 

Ban on Livestock lifted on Non-Affected Districts

The temporary ban imposed on movement and transportation of cattle, sheep, and goats among districts not affected by the anthrax outbreak has been lifted, that’s according to health officials.

A joint press release by the Ministries of Environment, Health and Sanitation, highlighted the new directives to be followed by the unaffected districts.

Murder charge for two, in school boy’s death

 Amara Bunduka  the man suspected of involvement in the death of a 15 year-old school boy Mohamed Kamara, who was in his care, has been charged with murder by a court in Bo. Another man called Bashiru has also been charged in absentia with murder alongside Bunduka. Bashiru  has been  on the run since the incident.

The boy died after alleged beatings following accusation of stealing a mobile phone.
