By: Newman Anthony Levey in Bo

Amara Bunduka  the man suspected of involvement in the death of a 15 year-old school boy Mohamed Kamara, who was in his care, has been charged with murder by a court in Bo. Another man called Bashiru has also been charged in absentia with murder alongside Bunduka. Bashiru  has been  on the run since the incident.

The boy died after alleged beatings following accusation of stealing a mobile phone.

Speaking to Politico, Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohamed Bobson Senu said that police were investigating five people, Amara Bunduka his wife Mary Bunduka, Lansana Momoh, Alfred Harding, and Jeffery Marcavory, and Bashiru but ended up charging the two men to court.

"Amara Bunduka,  and Bashiru who is on the run beat the boy. Those who bore the greatest responsibility were charged to court", he said.

It could be recalled that the police in Bo, were investigating the death of Kamara who according to investigations was found dead in the morning of Friday, 13th May 2022 after he was beaten and tied up by his guardian Bunduka, on allegations that he stole a mobile phone.

An autopsy conducted in Makeni indicated that Kamara died as a result of multiple blunt force, fractural injuries to the neck and upper extremities, severe physical assault (manual strangulation), dislocation fracture of cervical vertebrae with spinal cord injury, fractured right and left clavicle, and shoulder joints.

The boy’s death last month was brought to the attention of the police in a tip off, after Bunduka reportedly telephoned Kamara’s grandfather in Kailahun to give a different account of the boy’s death, in an apparent attempt at cover up. Kamara was preparing for this year’s mid-secondary school Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE)  , having been sent  by his father to live with Bunduka in Bo so he could continue his schooling.
