ECOWAS Chairman condemns Sierra Leone violent protest

The President of Guinea-Bissau and Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Umaro Sissoco Embalo, and other international dignitaries on Monday paid a solidarity visit to Sierra Leone following last Wednesday’s violent protests that claimed dozens of lives including Police Officers.

Young people want to participation in peace building

Sierra Leonean youth activists have called on Government to provide an open space for youth participation in national peace building processes.

They made this plea at a panel discussion to mark International Youth Day, at the Freetown International Conference Centre on Friday 12th August, 2022.

A member of the panel, Alex Nallo Jr.  said since independence ,not much has changed in terms of development, irrespective of who has been in power.

LAJ case committed to High Court

Following the end of preliminary investigations between the State and musician Alhaji Amadu Bah aka LAJ, Magistrate Mark Ngegba at the Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown has committed the matter to the High Court of Sierra Leone. 

Alleged murders of 9-year-old boy sent to High Court

Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road Court No. 1 has transferred to the High Court of Sierra Leone a matter relating to the death of a nine-year-old boy who was allegedly murdered at a nearby stream in Bonthe district.

Two men Lansana Conteh and Tawakatu Conteh were charged over the murder of Magaya Conteh.

The alleged crime reportedly happened on Tuesday 16th November 2021 at Blama village in the Yumbeku chiefdom in Bonthe district.
