Residents in Freetown have expressed their disappointment over the growing inconsistency in power distribution across various areas in the city that reportedly affected livelihoods.
Speaking to Politico on the 2nd February 2023, a Kissy Community resident Maseray Kanu said the intermittent electricity supply has affected all sectors and that for the past two weeks homes have been experiencing blackouts, leading to food going bad in refrigerators.

A 27-year-old man who was convicted of stealing a motorbike from his friend has been jailed for two years. Mohamed Kabba’s sentence covers also from the time he was first remanded in custody on the 5th of February 2022.
He was found guilty of fraudulently converting into his own use the bike which was the property of Mohamed Massaquoi at Calaba Town, east of Freetown.

A Porter at Ferry Junction, Kissy in Freetown, Abu Bakarr Sankoh is to serve six months imprisonment at the Male Correctional Centre after he was convicted for stealing one Infinix Hot 10 mobile phone and one Apple I-phone 8plus with a total value of Old Leones11,000,000 (eleven million). The phones belonged to one Mustapha Sesay.
Sankoh was acquitted of “conspiracy to commit larceny from the person” during the trial at the main law court building in Freetown on Wednesday 1st February 2023.

Freetown High Court Judge Monfred Sesay has sent to prison one Abu Bakarr Conteh for 12 months after he was found guilty of housebreaking and larceny.
He was accused of entering his cousin Lilian Tenneh Conteh’s dwelling house at Kossoh Town and robbing her of properties valued at New Leones7,550 (seven thousand, five hundred and fifty).

The Chairman of the National Council for Civic Education and Democracy Kalilu Totangi has urged all Sierra Leoneans to remain peaceful before, during, and after the elections.
"Keeping peace in the country is one of our core mandates as council’’ said Totangi. The Chairman made this call at a two-day annual retreat held in Kenema on the 26th and 27th of January 2023.

Ishmael Koroma who fled the country after killing his girlfriend was on Saturday 28th January extradited to Freetown by Guinean authorities so he could face justice.
Ishmael, who in a video footage whilst detained in Guinea confessed to the killing, has been on the run since November last year following the discovery of the battered body of Fatmata Sesay in her room in Moa Wharf, a coastal slum fishing settlement in Freetown.
