Sierra Leone’s President Bio vows to end learning poverty

President Julius Maada Bio has made a commitment to address learning loss and learning poverty at the foundational levels of education.

He made the commitment at the inaugural launch of the Foundational Learning Exchange (FLEX) 2023 at the Bintumani Conference Center in Freetown on the 6th February, 2023.

CARL to support electoral laws, security

The Centre for Accountability and the Rule of Law (CARL) has launched two projects that seek to support electoral justice, security and accountability for human rights violations and electoral offences committed during elections.

Development Minister to testify in Aki Sawyerr case

The lead lawyer, for Freetown Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyer who is charged with obstructing the work of the police has applied for the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Francis Mustapha KaiKai, to serve as witness because according to him, his name has been mentioned severally.

Lawyer Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara also applied for a serving military personnel, Victor Swaray to also testify because his name had come up several times.

Following the ruling by the Supreme Court that the elections in June 2023 should be done using the District Block system, the people of Sorogbeima Chiefdom which is part of the former Constituency 101 called the meeting to tell the leaders of the SLPP that popular development worker and philanthropist Ibrahim Kawa should be included on the Pujehun district list among the 7 seats assigned to the district by ECSL.
