Sierra Leone Parliament ratifies electricity agreement

The Sierra Leone Parliament has approved the extension of the power supply agreement between the government and the Turkish company providing electricity to Freetown through its sea vessels. The House on Tuesday 3rd November ratified the agreement that will see Karadeniz Powership Kaya Bey Company continue to provide power supply to the city and environs. The agreement had earlier been signed on the 30th June this year.

NCRA Engages Stakeholders on Registration Exercise

Officials at the National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) have briefed representatives of political parties and civil society organisations on the ongoing process by the Authority to capture the data of all people resident in Sierra Leone, including foreign nationals, in a mass civil registration drive. The engagement took place yesterday at the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Freetown.

EPA engages stakeholders on Climate Change

The Sierra Leone Environment Protection Agency (EPA), in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Methodological Agency (SLMA) has engaged stakeholders in Kenema on the development of a national document on Climate Change.

The purpose of the engagement, according to officials, was to talk about the issues of climate change which affect the environment. They noted that the engagement would enable the participants to come up with valuable ideas towards the development of a Climate Change Policy.

SLAJ President turns sod for new office in Kenema

The President of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) has on the 7th of November turned the sod for the construction of the eastern regional office in Kenema.

The commissioner of the Rights to Access Information Commission East, Mary Wuyatta Karimu, who chaired the occasion, commended SLAJ east for taking the lead to construct their own office space, noting that that will help to focus on other developmental projects that will promote development of journalism in the country.

Sierra Leone strengthens MCC score
