Justice Hannah Bonnie at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) court in Freetown has on 22nd July, 2021 granted bail to Alimamy Kamara, a former Minister of Youth Affairs, under the administration of President Ernest Bai Koroma.

Appeal’s Court to decide on Sierra Leone's former president Koroma

The Court of Appeal in Freetown has adjourned the matter involving former President Ernest Bai Koroma in his appeal for interpretation of section 48(4) of the 1991 Constitution for ruling.

The court made the decision on Wednesday 21st July 2021 having heard submissions from both representatives for the appellant and the State.

The appointment of popular football enthusiast and philanthropist Babadi Kamara as Team   Manager of Sierra Leone’s national football side Leone Stars has been confirmed. The businessman who is also chairman of high flying Bo Rangers football club will now take full managerial charge of Leone Stars, a position he would hardly find strange, having been seen in very interactive engagements with the players in the build up to the team’s triumph over Benin in the AfCon crucial qualifier played at a neutral venue in Conakry, Guinea.

Sierra Leone enacts code on breastmilk substitutes

Sierra Leone’s Parliament has passed into law the code on breastmilk substitutes, in a major breakthrough for nutrition campaigners.

The “Breast Milk Substitutes Act 2020" was unanimously passed on Wednesday, July 21, following a debate on it by lawmakers in the well of parliament.

The new piece of legislation was designed to ensure safe and adequate nutrition for infants and young children by promoting breastfeeding through the regulation of the marketing of breast-milk substitutes, among others.

Donors allege corruption at Serabu Hospital

A German medical non-governmental organization known as GERMAN DOCTORS has levelled allegations of corruption against the Serabu Hospital in Bo District.

In a letter addressed to the Bishop of the Bo Diocese which owns and runs the facility, GERMAN DOCTORS alleged that the hospital faced both structural and corruption problems as observed by them while they had been working there.
