Sierra Leone: APC cleared to hold convention

Justice Adrian Fisher of the High Court in Freetown has ordered that members of the All People’s Congress (APC) party conduct their convention not later than 31st August 2021. The judge gave his ruling on Monday 9th August 2021 in court.

As prices of fuel pump price continue to increase in Sierra Leone, government officials and authorities in the Petroleum Regulatory Agency (PRA) have highlighted the rationale behind the hike in  prices, noting that government has no control over fuel price as the business is 100% controlled by the private sector.

Sierra Leone still on UK Covid19 red list ​

The latest update of the UK travel guide has left Sierra Leone on the red list despite contestations by Freetown authorities and the decrease in the number of COVID-19 cases recorded in the country.

The measures instituted against the country by London came into effect on Monday 19 July 2021. However, NaCOVERC Communication  Lead, Solomon Jamiru said the action was quite unsettling especially when commercial flights had resumed and a lot of things had opened up within the context of   COVID-19 all over the world.

140 containers of school materials arrive

In a bid to facilitate the Free Quality Education (FQE) programme, the government of Sierra Leone has imported a hundred and forty (140) forty feet containers of teaching and learning materials. The Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator for the FQE Programme, Mohamed B. Kallon said he has received the books on behalf of the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE). 

Sierra Leone eligible to vote in ILO

The Minister of Labour and Social Security, Alpha Osman Timbo has during a five day work shop on the 9th August 2021 said that Sierra Leone in now eligible to vote in the International Labour Organization (ILO), noting that the government has paid all financial obligations to the organization.
