Calls for multi-lateral approach to reduce disaster in Sierra Leone

Sierra Leone’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development Dr. Francis Kai-Kai has called for national and international cooperation in reducing disaster risk and disaster losses in Sierra Leone.

The minister said addressing the challenges of prevention, mitigation and response to multifaceted disasters in the country requires the support and cooperation of both national and international partners to boost disaster resilience in the face of extreme weather events and other natural and man-made hazards.

University of Sierra Leone e-learning retreat opens in Bo

The Minister of Technical and Higher Education has told administrative and academic staff of the University of Sierra Leone that the virtual learning environment is the place to be in the 21st century. Addressing the opening ceremony of a four-day retreat called to assess the readiness of the University of Sierra Leone for its recently introduced e-learning initiative, Dr. Alpha Wurie said the COVID-19 pandemic has pushed the world towards the use of technology to conduct business in all spheres of life.

EWRC vets 120 water companies

The Director General of the Electricity and Water Regulatory Commission Dr. Emmanuel Mannah has told journalists during the weekly press briefing at the Ministry of Information and Communications on the 14th October 2021 that the commission has vetted 120 sachet water producing  companies, though he however noted that there are still others operating without scrutiny.
