A Member of Parliament, Mohamed Bangura, has admitted in his ongoing trial before the Principal Magistrate, Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road Court No.1 that he crossed a police checkpoint at Mathora Village in Tonkolili District without authorization because they did not give him the reason for mounting the said checkpoint and that it is an infringement on his freedom of movement.

Magistrate Mark Ngegba of the Pademba Road Court No.1 has promised to give judgement on a case of visa fraud involving an accused, Mohamed Alpha Bangura on the scheduled date of 21^st March 2023.

Magistrate Ngegba said this during Monday’s hearing after informing the accused that the prosecution had closed its case.

Bah who has no legal representation opted to rely on the statement he made to the Police out of the three options given to him.

Former Mayor of Freetown Municipality Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr has announced that she will be running for the same position in the June 2023 election putting an end to suspicions over her bid to serve as the running-mate for the All Peoples Congress presidential hopeful Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara.  

Aki-Sawyerr made this revelation on the 8^th of March 2023, marking International Women’s Day, saying “On this International Women’s day, I am pleased to announce that I am running for reelection as the Mayor of Freetown”.
