With the General Elections barely eight weeks away, the need for a peaceful process has seen the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC) with support from partners embark on conflict prevention training for Members of Parliament (MPs), Chiefs and representatives of various community- based groups.

One of the development partners of the country, World Hope International in collaboration with SEND Sierra Leone and technical support from Engineers without Borders, Denmark has conducted a seven-day intensive training for hand pump Technicians in the sixteen Chiefdoms of Kenema District.
The training which commenced at the Pastoral Centre, Kenema on the 17th and ended on the 21st of April 2023 was geared towards citizens’ climate change-driven management project.

President Julius Maada Bio has commissioned the construction of the Gendema Ferry Bridge worth 8.4 million dollars to link Boajibu in the Simbaru chiefdom and Gendema in Wandor and Gourama Mende Chiefdom in Kenema District.
The bridge will be constructed by a Chinese company Sino hydro bureau 9 limited Cooperation with a 15 months’ timeline to address the problem associated with outdated cable ferry crossing and to make accessibility for agricultural products and other businesses in the chiefdoms easier.
